About Our Church
Russellville's Oldest Church Of Christ Congregation
Our Heritage
This congregation was originally established in 1955 at the corner of 5th and Greenwich in Russellville. After outgrowing the building and grounds, a new church was planted at 2100 Shiloh Road to become the Shiloh Road church of Christ. The 5th and Greenwich location is now the home of Russellville's "Iglesia de Cristo" where they have enough space to thrive!

Learn MoreWhy the church of Christ
The church of Christ is committed to restoring New Testament Christianity through strict adherence to the Bible as our sole authority. Here's why we stand apart:
More Than a Name Above the Door
The "church of Christ" is not a denomination it's simply a description of who we belong to. We are a single, autonomous congregation of Christ's church, following the New Testament pattern. Each congregation of the church of Christ is independent, with no denominational headquarters or human authority over us. We are united in faith and practice with congregations worldwide, not by organizational structure, but by our commitment to following Scripture alone. We wear the name "church of Christ" (Romans 16:16) because we belong to Christ, not to honor any human founder or institution.
The Right Book: Biblical Authority
We accept only the Bible as God's inspired word—no additions like creeds, papal decrees, or extra scriptures (Jude 1:3; Revelation 22:18-19). All teachings come from Scripture's commands, examples, or necessary inferences, rejecting unbiblical practices like instrumental music in worship or women preaching.
The Right Structure: Autonomous Congregations
Each local church operates independently, without human headquarters or hierarchies, following the New Testament model. This fosters biblical unity and growth worldwide, unlike denominations with centralized control.
The Right Worship: Simple and Scriptural
We are committed to returning to the simple, clear pattern of the New Testament church. We speak where the Bible speaks, remain silent where it is silent, and let Scripture alone guide our faith and practice. Worship includes preaching, prayer, singing (a cappella), communion, and giving—pure and unadorned.
The Right Path to Salvation: Obedience to Christ
Salvation comes through Jesus alone (Acts 4:12). It requires hearing the gospel, believing, repenting, confessing Christ, and baptism by immersion for forgiveness of sins (Acts 2:38). We emphasize ongoing obedience and restoration (1 John 1:9).
Not a Denomination—Just Christians
We are simply Christians seeking to be the church you read about in the New Testament. No creeds but Christ, no book but the Bible, no name but the divine. Come study with us and discover what it means to be part of Christ's church, restored to its original pattern.
